Former Mattafix frontman Marlon Roudette will commence his solo career with the release of his ‘Matter Fixed' on Warner Bros Records.
The songs are as influenced by Roudette's globetrotting past - from the rum-soaked bars and heaving clubs of his former hometown, Kingstown in St. Vincent, to tours roaming the Middle-East and Africa - as they are by the iconic sounds of Massive Attack, Sade, Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin.
Roudette is currently enjoying success across Europe with his debut single ‘New Age' that has spent eight weeks at the top of the German charts.
Roudette first hit music's big time in 2005 as one-half of hip-hop / dancehall fusion duo Mattafix, whose breakthrough single ‘Big City Life' hit #1 in six countries and provided them with a Top 20 hit in the UK. Such was their success, that the duo were even named as ambassadors for the Save Darfur campaign.
Despite Mattafix's subsequent split, Roudette never lost inspiration. "It was a period of loss. I was engaged and managed to screw that up quite royally - all the trappings that come with being in your early twenties and on tour, having bit of money and all the rest of it. It felt like it was the end of the world. And my label at the time lost faith in me too. So it was a lot of different types of loss that triggered an emotional time, but it was a very creative period too."
The result is his upcoming debut solo ‘Matter Fixed', an album of universal music which comes straight from the heart and embraces the soul. "The difference between this album and anything I've done before is the personal vibe. I've literally just told my life as it is."
