En Vogue laid the template for sexy, sassy R&B girl-groups in the '90s and 2000s with their distinctive mixture of old-school soul and funk with cool harmonies, and a stylish, MTV-ready image. The strength of that material is evident throughout BEST OF EN VOGUE, a set that acts as both a career overview and a highlights collection. The group's later, somewhat lesser material is sequenced in among their hits, but at their strongest--as on the killer "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)" and the Funkadelic-inspired "Free Your Mind"--En Vogue proves that they were the best at their game. Outside of their sophomore release, FUNKY DIVAS, BEST OF should cover all the essential En Vogue a fan could want.
